Luminescence of tris(2,2'-bispridine)ruthenium(II) cations ([Ru(bpy)3](super 2+)) adsorbed in mesoporous silica
Article Abstract:
The adsorption of a chemical cationic lumiscence probe, tris(2,2'-bispridine)ruthenium(II) cations ([Ru(bpy)3](super 2+)), into a mesoporous silica is investigated in order to understand the nature of mesoporous silicas as immobilizing media for organic guest species. The adsorption of the probe into the mesoporous silica is conducted by the reaction using a dimethlformamide solution of [Ru(bpy)(sub 3)](super 2+) chloride.

Nonadiabatic proton/deuteron transfer within the benzophenone-triethylamine triplet contact radical ion pair: exploration of the influence of structure upon reaction
Article Abstract:
The dynamics of proton transfer within a variety of substituted benzophenone-triethylamine triplet contact radical ion pairs are investigated in the solvents acetonitrile and dimethylformamide. The results have shown that the reaction path for proton/deuteron transfer has involved tunneling and the origin of the inverted region is attributed to a curved tunneling path.

Reaction kinetics at dispersed-colloid/solution interfaces: benzophenone triplet-state quenching by methylated silica particles
Article Abstract:
Dispersed silica colloids are used as model surfaces for studying triplet-state reaction kinetics at liquid/solid interfaces. It was found that the rates of the interfacial reactions of triplet benzophenone were enhanced compared to reactions in free solution, which is likely due to weak adsorption of triplet benzophenone to the methylated silica surface.
